Combining Color and Quartzite

While maintaining the original 70s architecture, this Seattle home was modernized with bright pops of color, geometric patterns and natural stone from Pental Surfaces. With the help of Model Remodel, the owner-designed kitchen received a full update with new cabinets, countertops, tile and shelving.

In a house that radiates with vintage charm, the addition of bold, navy blue cabinets bring a historic, yet timeless, feel. Polished brass hardware and accents add warmth and contemporary glamour to the design. Venatino Quartzite countertops were installed with an eased flat polished edge, a waterfall edge and matching 4 inch backsplash. With a lighter color palette and pronounced veining, Quartzite slabs often mimic the look of natural marble and can be used in applications where superior durability is needed.

Despite a small footprint, the kitchen is visually spacious and bright with a combination of white upper cabinets and floating open shelving. Two globe pendants illuminate the peninsula with seating for two and wood accents tie in to the classic 70s wood paneling of the adjacent living areas.
